Monmouth, Illinois – A classic heartland town.

Monmouth is a rural, progressive community of 9,400 residents located in West Central Illinois. Founded in 1831, Monmouth is rich in history, and a stroll through our community reveals historic houses, commercial buildings and governmental buildings. The heart of Monmouth is Public Square, with the circular Central Park at the geographic center of the city. Monmouth's downtown is a registered historic district. Monmouth is home of Monmouth College, a nationally-ranked liberals arts college. Smithfield Foods is our community's largest employer, followed by Monmouth College and Well's Pet Foods.
